Mac Ride Hits Hanoi

We have had three great days of hustle and bustle in Hanoi. We thought we'd escape the city centre buzz for a short pedal around nearby lake Tay Ho. It was just a short taxi from our amazing hotel in the old quarter (the Art Trendy...not as good as the lonely planet says: better!).

We hired bikes from the lovely folks at The Hanoi Bicycle Collective, pictured below. Perhaps we'll remember them fondly because our service rep took one look at Mac Ride and said: "Ooohhh, special".

Lake Tay Ho has a circumference of 15km-- perfect for a gentle stretch of the legs and to see new parts of town. While the first part of the cycle was peaceful on a quiet path, the second half was quite intense. Huge hats off to our 8 year old, Savannah, who navigated expertly amongst the pushy mopeds and cars.

With the first ride under our belt, it's great to know the quill stem adapter for Mac Ride that Glen whipped up works well on the Vietnamese bikes. We're headed to Sapa this evening for some riding over the coming days. It will be more peaceful, we're sure.

A few more pictures from our journey so far:

It be a long way to fly, from Vancouver to Hanoi, and this family is in economy class all the way!

We are loving our SteriPen, a UV light wand that kills the bugs in our Vietnamese tap water (well, so far so good!).
