The Mekong Delta in the south of Vietnam is perfect for cruising around on bikes. It's flat. And it's full of rivers, canals, wee village lanes and smiling, helpful people.
We based ourselves out of Can Tho in order to gain access to the famous floating market. Boating in and around active trade on a river was neat, but for us, it was the biking that took the cake. We hired a guide from the Can Tho tour booking office. He was a treat and offered wonderful access to local life.
It is winter in Vietnam but still sizzling in the South. We had our fair share of rest stops, exploring the fishing and farming as well as quiet, chilled-out cafes by the water, where hammock snoozing was encouraged and the coffee was spectacular.
We have had a great month here in Vietnam. Now that we see how easy and affordable it is to rent bikes, to fit Mac Ride on them, and to find quiet, green areas for adventuring on two wheels, we wish we'd planned in even more cycling into our trip!
